The Obama Card

Pamela Coleman Smith predicts President Obama in 1909

Was Pamela Coleman Smith a clairvoyant on a level with Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce?

I have been observing her beautiful illustrations of the 78 cards in the Rider-Waite Tarot deck for many years. I have noticed that many of the cards have prophetic aspects to them. Take The Chariot in the High Arcana, here Pamela has demonstrated a highly accurate prediction of an American President from an image created many years before President Barach Hussein Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States. And although Ralph Waite, the man who employed Pamela in creating the rectified Tarot, may have played some part; it was Pamela Coleman Smith, who created the final images. And there are many other clairvoyant implications in other Rider-Waite cards Pamela has created.

Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce are well known Clairvoyants universally recognized for their prophetic statements. Pamela Coleman Smith is little known (only by a few scholars) and is definitely not a household name. Yet she may go down in history as one of the most clairvoyant people who has ever lived. Although Pamela, herself, did not make any effort to promulgate this idea. And would probably be stunned, if she were still alive; at this particular accolade.

Let us look more closely at The Chariot. This particular card is associated with any means of transportation, i.e. autos, trains, planes or space vehicles. It can also be associated with haste. Another of its principle meanings has to do with a black/white approach to life. This suggests the client may be too polarized and requires more flexibility.

However, if you look much closer at the symbolism in this card you will realize its clairvoyant possibilities.

Pamela has painted a man riding under a canopy of stars. This canopy is often associated with many of the Presidents of the US. Especially if you see them speaking from the back of any train. There are two Sphinxes at the feet of the Chariot. One is a black male and the other is a white female. Does this imply that there will be a President of the United States descended from a black father and a white mother? If you have doubts about this implication, take the two tails of the Sphinxes, reverse them and then combine them. You will have the classic heart of love. Also the White sphinx appears to be holding an Eagle between her paws. The eagle has always been the symbol of power and rulership.

And there are other associations with Obama. Why did Pamela place two crescent moons on this man's shoulder? To suggest President Obama's Muslim background? Plus the two crescent moons have faces attached to them. The one on the right seems angry and sly. The one on the left seems to be preparing to laugh, but with some temerity.

The man carries the rod of illumination in his right hand suggesting that, whoever this man is, he will bring righteousness and order to the right side of political experience. And possibly with the help of the right as well. He also wears the diadem of wisdom, an 8 pointed star on his crown. There are two castles on either side of this obvious ruler. Are these the right and left sides of the political experience, entrenched in their guarded and protected castles? The left castle has protective walls suggesting a defensive posture. There is the symbol of flight (and Isis?) in the two wings on the front of the chariot and a top for balance on the shield below it. Does this predict that this man will have the capability of flight and will attempt to bring balance to the World? It also suggests something else as well.

What is most peculiar about this particular card is that something is missing on the wheel on the left side. The hub of the wheel on the left is not there. Surely Arthur Waite and Pamela Coleman Smith should have noticed this was missing? Why is it not there? Now I am going to suggest combining several of these symbols and let the reader fill in their own blanks. Wings, a top (balance). A crescent moon, something missing on the left side and the number 7 at the top of the card. Is something going to happen in the seventh month of a President's term of office or even the seventh year?

If you wish to check out the other four cards in the lower arcana (pips) having a 7 at the top and associate them with President Obama you will get what appears to be even more clairvoyant connections from Pamela.. But those possible connections I shall bring up at a later time or answer questions addressed to me from any reader who may be curious. There are also many other cards that appear to have prophecy associated with them.
